Shopping Carts

Attack of the WallyWorld Shopper

A quick post tonight, because maybe the story I’m about to tell will make some people laugh as I did.

But first, I’ll set it up. I leave work to go to my first one-hour aerobics class in about 4 years and had a blast, although it was a bit of a wake-up call for some muscles of mine. After class I head to WalMart…starved, since my lunch consisted of a Cliff Bar and a Coke. End result – let’s just say shopping hungry is never good.

Anyways to the funny part.

I see a co-worker in the fresh meat aisle and we stop to chat. Well not too long into our conversation we notice a woman on one of those scooter buggies followed by her husband pushing another cart. She stops to eye the food behind us and so we move backwards. Well, I guess it wasn’t far enough so the woman says, “Keep moving…keep moving,” so we move more but we weren’t moving at her speed I guess…so all of a sudden she plows into my friend’s cart and we are forced to move farther faster. My friend started saying, “um ok I guess we weren’t fast enough,” as we scoot back — while all I could do was just bust out laughing. Through all this not another word was spoken, no excuse me, nothing. So, my friend moves across the aisle and then I see I have to as well as another woman on scooter buggie started coming at me from the other side. (Attack of the scooter buggies – oh my) Then as I move across the aisle the new scooter woman has to backup and so the reverse beeping starts going and I lose it again…giggles.

If that’s not funny then you have no sense of humor. Seriously, I can’t make up something like that…let’s just say I needed that laugh.

Happy shopping to all and may it be scooter free. 😉

OSCAR NIGHT!!!

Oh, how I love the Oscars!

Moments that I love in no particular order:
– Clips from Oscars past – all those wonderful legendary icons
– Clips from movies that I adore & discovering little known movies that I need to see.
– I’m also one of those people that enjoys getting sentimental over the roll call of artists that were lost in a year’s time…especially with the loss of Heath Ledger
– John Stewart, subtle humor so not too much to laugh about
– Hearing the song – La Vie En Rose – and having to download instantly from iTunes
– Javier Bardem’s acceptance speech – how touching was his thank you to his mother in Spanish…
– wow – that little girl in the Harlem choir from August Rush has one powerful voice
– Colin Farrell = Irresistible
– Helen Mirren – what a lovely dress
—ok, so I zoned out with some of the awards…jeez, really 3.5 hours long (but I remember when it has gone on longer)

So – the Oscar goes to No Country For Old Men – well I gues I’ll have to watch it… 🙂 (Especially since it was apparently based on a book by Cormack McCarthy, an author I enjoyed when I read his book All The Pretty Horses back in high school)

Well all in all an ok night of entertainment.

Good night for now.
